Nepal is growing as a popular family holiday destination in South Asia. Nepal holiday includes a wide range of activities like nature walk, Himalayan scenery, mild adventures of white water rafting, camping, jungle safari, and the cultural immersion tour of self-sufficient village life. Unlike beach holidays and Disney, Nepal is an active holiday destination with educational, experimental, and recreational activities. Based on the reviews of our previous clients, family holiday in Nepal have been successful in creating deep memories and bonding the family.

Educational and experimental sightseeing around Kathmandu

The UNESCO World Heritage site of Kathmandu is all about spirituality and history. It is a complex of temples, stupas, pavilions, sunken water soups, and palace buildings bedecked in medieval art and crafts. This stuff will definitely be boring kids. With our experts and experience in handling tours for kids, we have created an experimental sightseeing tour for kids. The sightseeing includes learning pottery, natural colors, paper crafts, mask making, and travel games. There are also optional activities of spending time with young monks, an orphan, and an animal rescue center, to hear stories from different walks of life.

Wildlife and nature safari activities

The vertically rising layers of mountains from the plain create a diverse ecosystem suitable for a wide range of wildlife and vegetation within a small area. This diversity makes Nepal an interesting place to do a wildlife and nature safari tour. While it is scenic and exciting, it is also educational and private for a family with kids. Even though there are several resorts offering activities to watch target birds and animals, Chitwan National Park is easily accessible and vibrant. Chitwan National Park is another of the four UNESCO Heritage sites in Nepal. The 950 sq. km area of the park have been successfully preserving the last no of native endangered wildlife including Asian single horned Rhinos and the Royal Bengal Tiger. There are ample safari excursions for kids to explore and learn.

Family trek in the foothills of the Himalayas

Short and gentle family trek in the Himalayas

It is common for some intrepid parents to bring their kids on a Himalayan trek. However, it may be too extreme and awkward for first-timers. There are some short treks with luxury lodges for those families who are not avid trekkers. A short, gentle trek based on a luxury lodge/resort could be organized in the Everest and also in the Annapurna. The assistance of a pony and a porter is available for the kids. Each day, walking is set to a comfortable distance and pace. The resorts have private western toilets and heating with a restaurant serving scrumptious local and western food.

The short trek in Everest is the most popular Himalayan trek for family. The land Sherpas, the legendary mountaineers have lot to tell from the Yeti (the abominable snowman) to the first Everest climb in 1953 by Sir Edmund Hillary. The daunting snow peaks, glaciers and the Buddhist land has been enlisted as UNESCO Heritage site.

Family rafting and camping trip

The melting glaciers make a high current river gushing down the deep valleys carved over thousands of years. These rivers place Nepal second to Brazil for the potential of hydroelectricity. The high current, scenic landscape, and the wilderness also make Nepal a dream destination for White water rafting. Again, rafting in Nepal is not always tough. There are rivers that have gentle rapids suitable for beginners and intermediates. One of such rafting trips suitable for a family holiday is Seti River Rafting. The river goes off into the wilderness with plenty of pristine banks for camping. The 2-day rafting could also be organized based on a luxury lodge.

Village tour and farm stay

As the lobar-based traditional farming is becoming difficult to sustain, farming in Nepal is also commercializing. There are several community farms producing cash crops like tea, coffee, apples, and spices. These farms also provide accommodation with organic food, with an opportunity to learn and interact with farm animals, village life, and agriculture. Walk through the pristine countryside and stay overnight in a simple village with plenty of activities for your kids to observe and learn about agriculture. Kids can milk the cow, pluck the vegetables, and see them grinding crops and making butters in traditional way. The private family breakfast with the Himalayan view is a bonus.
